Clare Calder-Behzadi (Principal) RAD Teach Cert, Advanced RAD Ballet, IDTA Associate Ballet, Tap & Modern

Clare trained at The Elliott-Clarke School of Dance and Drama and taught her first ballet class at the age of 14. At 16 she attended The West Street School for Classical Ballet and Performing Arts in Covent Garden, London. She also held several titles for Disco dancing (now called Freestyle) and worked on many professional shows at theatres such as the Liverpool Empire, Neptune Theatre Liverpool, Floral Pavilion and many more, performing in pantomimes and variety shows with various celebrities. At 16 she also performed in Yorkshire Television's production of Demob with Les Dawson, Gryff Rhys-Jones, Martin Clunes and Samantha (Janus) Womack. Clare was the Juvenile Co-ordinator for First Family Entertainment on their Christmas pantomimes at the Liverpool Empire for 3 years running, and has just finished 5 years on the North of England committee for the Royal Academy of Dance. Clare has been the school's principal since it opened in 1996.

Louise Rutter ALAM (Deputy Principal) LAMDA Acting ALAM & LLAM, IDTA Associate Ballet, Tap & Modern

Louise trained at the Elliott-Clarke School of Dance and Drama then later at Hoylake School of Dance. She graduated from Liverpool Hope University with a degree in Creative & Performing Arts in 2004. She has taught dance and drama at Hoylake School of Dance for many years and was appointed Deputy Principal in 2006. Louise teaches right across the age ranges at the school and has also taught in several Primary & Secondary Schools across the Wirral. Louise worked professionally with the Everyman Theatre Company and also appeared in Brookside & Hollyoaks. Louise teaches various subjects and oversees the running of the school's 10 competition teams.

Kate Vozniuk - Dance, Drama & Singing

Kate trained at HSOD from the age of 6 when the school opened until 17 when she took her training to professional level gaining Btec level 6 in Professional Musical Theatre at Liverpool Theatre School. During Kate's 3 years at LTSC she was the original Musical Theatre teacher as well as a drama teacher at the school. Upon graduation a move to London followed where she performed in several shows in and around London, since then Kate has travelled the world as a featured vocalist for Aida Cruise Line. Home called and we are delighed to welcome Kate back full time onto the team to teach a wide range of subjects.

Rebecca Chapman - Dance IDTA Associate

Rebecca has been a pupil at the school since the age of 4, she holds her Advanced RAD ballet exam (Merit) and Advanced Jazz (Distinction.) Rebecca joined the team in 2013 was delighted to be offered a full time position in Sept 2015, she assists the principal with the preparation of candidates for the RAD ballet exams, teaches a mixture of subjects and works on 2 of the school comp teams. Rebecca also holds her Gold LAMDA Acting exam (Merit).

Clare Tucker - Senior Vocal Coach

Clare is a professional opera singer who performs across the UK and Europe as well as teaching both privately and for our school. She has many musical qualifications and has been with us for many years. Musical theatre songs are worked on in the lesson as well as scales, breathing, music theory etc. Clare teaches the many elements required to sing technically correctly.

Helen McCarron - Contemporary & Street Styles

Helen joined the team in 2017 and has an impressive CV, Trained at Northern School of Contemporary Dance, has a degree in contemporary dance. Helen is a recent member of 12 Degrees North Dance company and has toured works by James Wilton, Lea Anderson & Filip Van Huffle as well as delivering workshops for the company. She also works as a freelance dance artist performing in independent projects, performing with Chinese dance company China Pearl, performing and teaching for world dance company Movema as well as choreographing her own work and teaching.

Rachel Gittins - Contemporary BA Hons

Rachel joined the team in 2017 and has a degree in Dance & Aerial Performance, she also has extensive performance experience around the Northwest and is currently working for Company Chameleon with Kevin Turner. And also the NEW Dance Apprentice Practitioner for creative workshops at schools within North Wales.

Natalie Griffiths - Dance IDTA Associate

Natalie has been a pupil at the school since the age of 3, she holds her Advanced RAD ballet exam (Merit) and Advanced 2 Jazz (Distinction) she is currently working for her Advanced 2 RAD ballet. Natalie is a big part of HSOD and joined the team in September 2014 teaching Irish dance, she now teaches on a Saturday afternoon whilst studying for her Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre at Liverpool Theatre School and teaches tap, jazz & limbering.

Adam Sorrell - Dance IDTA Associate

Adam joined the team in 2018 to teach Freestyle and Limbering. He is 3 times World Freestyle Dance Champion as well as the former British, Scottish and European Champ too. He has been honoured to be a guest performer at the World Freestyle Championships as well as at the Prestigious Carl Alan Awards Ceremony. He also won the Carl Alan Performers award back in 2012. Adam has learned a wide range of dance genres at college and we are delighted to have his energy on the team at HSOD.


Jean-Paul Jesstiece - Freerunning / Tumbling Coach L3

JP is Creative Director and part owner at Airborn Academy and is also a Stuntman. He has many film credits such as Pan, Street Fighter Resurrection & I Am Soldier and has worked on films with many famour actors such as Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman & Billy Bob Thornton, we are delighted to have JP sharing his skills with us here at Hoylake.

Louise Jones - Contemporary BA Hons / IDTA Associate

Lou trained at HSOD for 11 years gaining Advanced 1 Jazz, IDTA Intermediate Ballet and LAMDA Silver in Drama. She also holds IDTA Associate Teaching Qualification. Lou has her A'level in Dance which enabled me to progress into Higher Education. I attended West Cheshire College and obtained my H.N.C in Performing Arts and continued my studies at Edge Hill University graduating with B.A Honours in Dance with Aerial. Lou is delighed to be joining the teaching team in September 2018.

Annie Winstanley - IDTA Associate

Annie has been at HSOD since she was tiny and has been on the teaching staff since September 2017 teaching contemporary dance. Annie holds her Adv RAD Ballet, Adv IDTA Ballet, Adv 1 IDTA Jazz amongst other things. She is currently trianing full time at Phil Winston's Theatre Works in Blackpool and is also a member of BGT Golden Buzzer winners Merseygirls.

 

Kirsty Brennan & Beth Mortimer also hold their Associate Teaching exams with IDTA and are available to cover classes when regular teaching staff are unavailable.

Several of our staff are Matrons with Wirral Borough Council and we fully support the new government ISA Vetting and Barring scheme.
